Realm of an Inner Child is a tale about fetal microchimerism which explores the complexity of genetic identity. A woman’s daily life is infused with a sense of persistent loss. Her child who died in utero many years earlier exists within her biology as a microchimera. This knowledge eases her sadness as the two will forever be united by a molecular bond. During a brief interlude, they share a discourse that reveals an enduring physiological attachment that has psychological consequences.
